Allergy Testing and Treatment

Fayetteville Otolaryngology has offered allergy testing and treatment for over 10 years. Our Otolaryngic Allergists are specially trained to diagnose and treat ENT allergies as well as other conditions of the upper respiratory tract.

Our physicians use methods that are time proven to not only identify specific allergens, but also to achieve control of allergies quickly and effectively.

Testing typically consists of minute injections of 75-78 of the most common allergic inhalants. Reactions to the relatively painless injections are then measured and recorded. The whole process takes about 11/2 - 2 hours.

Treatment consists of a series of injections of diluted allergens, or serum. Over time, progressively greater concentrations of the serum are administered in order to strengthen your immune system's resistance.

Our patients generally see improvement in three to six months.

You should see an Otolaryngic Allergist if you have:

  • recurrent or persistent colds, cough or difficulty breathing
  • frequent sneezing, stuffy nose and / or runny nose
  • recurrent or chronic sinus infection
  • itchy, watery, red eyes
  • recurrent or persistent sore or swollen throat and post nasal drainage
  • recurrent or chronic upper respiratory tract symptoms that cannot be diagnosed or treated
  • recurrent ear infections
  • Meniere's disease or other types of fluctuating (changing) hearing loss
